Simplicity of Gratitude

Gratitude has a way of shifting everything. It turns the ordinary into the unforgettable, the simple into splendid, and the routine into reverenced. In a world that moves quickly, finding ways to pause and notice what is good in our lives is one of the most grounding practices we can cultivate.

Here are a few ways I weave gratitude into your everyday life:

1. Begin and End with Thanks

I start the day by naming three things you’re grateful for — before emails, before to-do lists,  running out the door. They don’t have to be grand; in fact, the smaller, the better. A good night’s sleep, the sound of rain on the window, or the laughter of a child can set the tone for your entire day. At night, repeat the practice as a way to close the day in peace.

Create a Gratitude Corner

I have dedicate a whole room in your home to reflection. I have filled with all the things I love. My needle work, crochet projects, books, beautiful art ( mostly second hand or prints in thrifted frames), and other odds and ends that bring me joy and fill me with peace. However, it doesn't have to be a whole room,  a cozy chair by the window, a candle on the kitchen counter, or a basket with your favorite books and blanket. When you settle there, let gratitude guide your thoughts. Over time, this spot becomes more than a corner; it becomes a sanctuary.

Practice Gratitude in Action

Gratitude isn’t only felt; it’s expressed. Write a handwritten note to a friend, leave flowers on a neighbor’s porch, or simply speak the words “thank you” more often. These simple acts ripple outward, turning personal gratitude into shared joy. Send a text, call, or say a little prayer if someone crosses your mind.

Notice the Ordinary

Gratitude often lives in what we overlook: the warmth of fresh laundry, the first sip of tea, the glow of sunset through the window. Saying thank you to God that my family is healthy, that my body is mobile, that my heart is strong and my mind is at peace as I tidy up the house or make a meal for the girls and I..these small everyday activities that we often overlook until something is not working as it should.

Embrace Seasonal Gratitude

Each season carries its own gifts — autumn’s crisp air, winter’s stillness, spring’s renewal, summer’s freedom. Lean into them. Light a seasonal candle, cook a seasonal meal, or decorate your table with what nature offers. Gratitude is often found in the rhythms we return to year after year.

Gratitude doesn’t require extra time, money, or effort — only presence. And when we practice it faithfully, we find that life becomes richer, not because it changes, but because we do.

Because the true beauty of gratitude is this: it invites us to see savor the small moments.

With grace in the everyday,
